I took a contemporary art class last semester where I got to work on various interesting projects such as stop motion animation. This post is dedicated to the projects I WASN’T able to finish because of the lack of time and level of difficulty: the Axe and Bowl.
For the axe project, I had to work in both the wood and metal shops that required me to use dangerously sharp and noisy saws. I sweated through my protective gear on my first day when I had to cut my tiny 1.5″ by 6″ sheet metal into a blade shape while struggling not to saw my own fingers off and getting hit by hundreds of tiny hot sparks.
And for my bowl project, my eyes were tearing up painfully because the wind kept randomly blowing smoke in my direction before I could move away in time. I was also suffering in the heat outside and cowered in my tiny shadowy corner as I stoked the fire like a hermit.
I’m still proud of what I learned in the process, I just wish I was able to finish it on time.
